Seven Summers

Speaking of this and that with a friend, he said he  still had seven summers to do something with his life.

Now where did you get the idea of seven summers?  I asked him. Might it not be less, or more?

It all depends what we do with the summers allotted us. What matters most is how we live those lives to the fullest, for ourselves and for others.

So despite it all, a summer will be what we make it.

  1. Ciao ciao Erika-

I am hoping you are feeling better, and that the Fuoco di San Antonio is subsiding- I have minor allergies, and we soldier on- my new grad class (if I have not mentioned yet) seems good and the weather here is wildly differing from too hot (last week) to sudden rain and very cool, (last weekend) to very windy now.

The first month we were here Italy felt like the other half of my world, and now it has once again subsided to far away and full of people and places I love. Your seven summers blog is lovely, lovely.

I am writing, but very nit=picky (working on the adaptation of Requiem, and on Machines Like Me at the same time- and on production aspects – tiny meetings with lighting designers, set designers ect ect). Plus teaching and university issues- it begins to feel a bit too fragmented.

The good news Erika is that Tabucchi’s widow, Maria Jose, has connected us with a professional theater north of Lisbon who are committing to doing a co-production with us- but probably not until 2028. So we premiere Spring 2027 and then there is a second wave of shows a year later- I think. We have an on-line meeting with the theater on Monday. Wish us luck! And 4 days later a read-through of the script with everyone in Portugal (also on-line)

My news is not very exciting but very busy. On my way now to school!

    Hugs,
    A
