One who seeks an answer to the eternal why of life.
One who loves words and the sound of words,
the meaning and the structure,
the way in which they inter-relate,
attempting with words to build
something finite
where nothing can be added
and nothing can be subtracted.
But what then are words?
They are the building blocks
of all our thoughts.
A word holds in it
a world of meanings – moving back in time,
pointing to the future.
An assemblage of words
is what gives visible form
to what otherwise
would remain in limbo.
Wonderful way to start my day reading your post.

I enjoyed reading your poem. It made me think about the power of words, and good poetry is meant to make a person think. Thank you.

I too enjoyed this poem Erika. For me your first stanza was particularly interesting: you have high standards or high aspirations for a poet, and I really value that. Of course there are many kinds of poetry, including those simply written for fun, but from time to time we come across something rare that seems to reach out towards the infinite. Your poem puts this better.

What a responsibility and joy to use WORDS judicially.
And once said, can not be withdrawn.
